The uniqueness of the 2024 edition lies within the expansion to the ingredients of barley and peat. Furthermore, this is the first series to cover the diversity of our whisky making end-to-end: water, environment, ingredients, peat, distillation, age, and cask. In the past, we have mainly focused on the casks matured in the lands of Yamazaki and Hakushu, however, for the first time, we reveal the untold story that Tsukuriwake goes beyond diversifying the whiskies in multiple casks but it starts with the selection of ingredients by our blenders. This allows us to bring our two single malts together, helping share equity of each brand.

Yamazaki Golden Promise
First grown in Scotland in the 15G0s, Golden Promise Barley is an exceptional grain variety. Learned from scotch, first distilled in 2005 and matured in American Oak casks, the use of Golden Promise has resulted in a Yamazaki as malty and rich. Often used as the base of Yamazaki flagship SKUs like 12YO, this well -rounded liquid stabilizes the flavor of Yamazaki when it comes to composing with others like Mizunara and Spanish oak liquids.

Yamazaki Islay Peated Malt 
Islay Peat often recognized as the distinctive character amongst scotch, it brings out softer and sweeter mouthfeel than Scotland’s mainland peat. In particular, the water an maturation process of Yamazaki results in a sweetness that balances the smoke, truly embodying Tsukuriwake that goes beyond the selection of ingredients but also on the process and soul place all combined to create the Yamazaki flavor.

Yamazaki 18 Years Mizurana
Known as the signature enhancer of the brand, throughout House of Suntory’s long history using Mizunara casks, the blenders have observed that age is the key to unlocking the signature taste of this unique cask. A long maturation period unveils the distinctive spiciness and incense -like flavor of sandalwood and aloe wood that comprises this 100% Mizunara  whisky. Continuing the inspiration from our past releases, it is a representation of our endless journey to experience the evolution and refinement of Mizunara whiskies.

Hakushu Peated 18 Years Malt
The Peated Malt is a part of “ Tsukuriwake” at Hakushu – the art of diversity in whisky making. Diverse malt types, as well as fermentation, distillation and maturation techniques, underpin House of Suntory’s legendary Art of Blending.
