1. Manhattan

The Manhattan is one of the most traditional whiskey cocktails that you can find in most bars, it is an icon in the whiskey world. It is also versatile as you can make it with bourbon or Canadian whisky, a splendid cocktail recipe to make whenever you are trying out a new brand.

You will need:

60ml rye whiskey, bourbon or Canadian whisky

30ml sweet vermouth

2 to 3 dashes of aromatic bitters

This will only take a minute or two. Fill a mixing glass with ice before pouring the whiskey, vermouth and bitters in. Stir well and strain into a chilled cocktail glass. Garnish the drink with cherry and serve.

2. John Collins

The John Collins is essentially a taller version of a Whiskey Sour. Refreshing and easy to prepare, this cocktail is perfect for any last-minute dinner gathering or if you are simply feeling thirsty for a delicious cocktail after dinner.

You will need:

45ml bourbon whiskey

30ml lemon juice

30ml simple syrup

60ml club soda

Orange slices

First, pour the bourbon, lemon juice and syrup into a Collins glass filled with ice and stir well. Fill up the glass with club soda then garnish with a cherry and orange slice before serving.

45ml Irish whiskey

30ml heavy cream - lightly whipped

2 teaspoons brown sugar

Place the brown sugar into a warm mug or heatproof glass then pour in the coffee and Irish whiskey. Stir until the sugar is dissolved then float the whipped heavy cream on the top of the coffee. You will need:

90ml whiskey

15 to 30ml simple syrup

15 to 30ml club soda
